Ruth Coleman - Headteacher
My name is Ruth Coleman and I have taught at Highfield since 2009 and have been the Staff Governor since 2010. I became Deputy Headteacher in 2016 and Headteacher in July 2019. If you have any questions about the Governing Body, please come and ask me at any time.
Jenny Auber - Chair of Governors
I have been involved in education for my entire working career as teacher and head teacher in Suffolk and London. Since retiring I have also been a Governor. I have an on-going interest in education particularly with 9 grandchildren going through the Early and Primary years. I am so pleased to be working with Highfield School and Children’s Centre – a progressive and successful example for early year’s education.
Andrew Morrison - Vice Chair of Governors
Hello – I’m Andrew! I’m Daddy to two young ladies, and am very pleased to be a Governor here at Highfield. I love all things musical – including playing the bass guitar, ukulele, and the trombone! Prrrrp! My favourite children’s book is Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins. I’d love to hear what you think about life here at Highfields, and to answer any questions you may have.
Jannice Simpson - Children Centre Manager
Hello I’m Jannice and I have the privilege of being the Children’s Centre manager at Highfield. I am mum to twins and feel I understand and can empathise with the joys and challenges that parenting can bring. I began working in the centre in June 2007 and have had the opportunity to see how the whole centre has evolved into the community we are today. I come from an early years back group, having a real passion in working with families to provide an ‘open door’ experience , offering support , advice and if needed signpost on to other service in the local area. Please feel free to come and chat to me about any aspect of the Centre at Highfield.
Natasha Trinder - Early Years @ Highfield Manager
Hello my name is Natasha Trinder and I am an Associate Governor for the Nursery School and Early Years @ Highfield Manager. As part of my Governors role I attend Learning and Achievement and Health and Safety committee meetings. I am very passionate about the work we undertake here at Highfield with our children and families. I work on a Monday and Tuesday if you would like to talk with me.
I have been at Highfield as a Governor for a number of years and am Chair of the Finance Committee. I have expertise in computers and IT and have contacts with local schools. I enjoy education and the people within education.
My name is Sally Evans and I am a parent governor. I have 3 young boys, 2 of whom are here at Highfield. I am a qualified psychologist and through my work in this area passionately believe children should be happy, safe and confident. Attending an educational setting should offer them opportunities to develop life skills and build friendships. I am keen to hear about your experiences at Highfield so please contact me with any questions.
I live with my partner and three (grown -up) children. I have lived in Ipswich since birth. In my spare time I like to bake, take walks at the weekend with family and the pet, cycling and when I can, swimming. I have always been interested in the teaching vocation, however the interest developed further from my own experience as a mother of a child with SEND and wanting to learn more about how I could support him. I have worked at Highfield for a number of years initially as a support assistant, supporting children with SEND. Since commencing employment at Highfield I have completed my Open Degree BSc with the Open University. I then went on to complete my early years teacher qualification with Pen Green research Base and Bedford Uni in 2016 and I have recently graduated after completing my MA in Integrated working with children and families in the early years also with Pen Green Research Base. As I now have more time on my hands now I have completed studying, I thought I would offer my support by joining the governing body.
I am Stephen and I live in Ipswich with my wife and two children. I am a Director for a social action charity that supports young people and families in Ipswich and across the UK. I am very interested in education and early years being equitable for all children. As a parent of SEND children I know the value of this greatly. I sit on the DfE Partnership Board in Ipswich to improve social mobility for children in the town. I am a passionate Ipswich Town fan, myself and the children are season ticket holders and love travelling to away games.
Hello, I’m Nick and I joined the Finance Committee in my role as Local Authority Governor last year. As a father to three boys, I fully appreciate how valuable early years education is for all and am delighted to be a part of Highfield's team. My working life began in the Royal Air Force and following this has been spent working in the healthcare industry where I am now a Director at a local Hospital which keeps me particularly busy. The spare time I do get I spend on watching my sons’ at football and classic car restoration which is always on going. I am a great believer in providing, gaining and learning from as many experiences as possible and believe Highfield’s is a great place for that to happen for young children.
